Seven Days From Sicily to Rome
Living La Dolce Vita

Journey from Sicily's UNESCO World Heritage treasures and sun-drenched coastlines to Rome's timeless grandeur aboard La Dolce Vita Orient Express, where three-Michelin-starred cuisine meets landscapes that have witnessed civilisations rise and fall, whilst exclusive cultural encounters reveal why this Mediterranean island to Eternal City passage represents the ultimate expression of Italian beauty, history, and culinary mastery.

Day One

Arrival in Sicily

Transfer from Palermo to the Verdura Resort - time to relax and have a leisurely dinner at the hotel

Day Two

Palermo

A chance to explore the local treasures of Sicily, from a unique tour of the world UNESCO site, The 'Valley of the Temples', or a wine tasting at probably the best cantina in the region, also the chance to watch local craftsmen at work including coral jewellers, soap makers and millers all in the beauty of a Sicilian fishing village. Dinner will be served at Amare, the hotel's incredible seafood restaurant.

Day Three

Board La Dolce Vita

Transfer to Palermo station where you will board La Dolce Vita Orient-Express. Today the train will stop at Taormina, where you have the choice to enjoy time to yourself and have dinner at one of the many beautiful trattorias, or join a specially curated tour of Taormina and Castelmola with their breathtaking views of Mount Etna, as part of this experience you will learn how to bake the famous local delicacy 'Cannolo Siciliano', finally there will be a dinner at a local ristorante before returning to the train.

Day Four

Maratea

Today the train travels north to the town of Maratea, departing via the unique boat train crossing from Messina. On arrival you have the choice to enjoy time to yourself and have dinner at one of the many local ristorantes, or join a special experience immersing you in the culinary delights of Lunarian cusine, including a masterclass in the theatre of cocktail making Italian style, the day will finish with an intimate dinner in a setting surrounded by the panoramic views of the mountains and coastline of Maratea before returning to the train.

Day Five

Arrival to Rome

The train takes its final journey to Rome's Ostiense station from where you will be driven to La Minerva Orient-Express hotel. The afternoon is for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the hotel. Dinner is at a simple but delicous local ristorante.

Day Six

Rome

Today you can choose from exclusive cultural experiences including a private Vatican viewing with rare access, after-hours visits to the Pantheon, or explorations of Rome's artistic quarters. Your farewell dinner is at La Minerva's rooftop restaurant with views of ancient Rome that are as breathtaking as the food.

Day Seven

Depart for Home

After breakfast on the rooftop of La Minerva Orient-Express and one more view of Rome, transport will be waiting to take you to your travel point for your return home.
